The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and SpringSpirit Baseball, a Houston-based non-profit organization, are working with community leaders and other organizations to create a unique community facility and program for youth in Houston’s economically-diverse Spring Branch area.
SpringSpirit Baseball's mission is to provide a pathway for personal development by developing the mind, body, and spirit of youth in Houston, especially those most at-risk, by creating positive mentoring relationships between caring adults and youth and their families through baseball, softball, and educational programs.
Once the complex on Pitner Road is built, over 500 boys and girls each year will come for baseball and softball instruction, league play, youth clinics, summer camps, and Ripken Foundation programming - all designed to help break the cycle of poverty and poor education afflicting many area families. This new facility, which is expected to be open in the spring of 2012, will soon be a source of pride for the entire community.
Your gift to the Swing for the Future Campaign will build more than a ballpark... it will build a place where young people from Spring Branch will develop life skills and a renewed sense of success.
