One of our flagship youth development parks will be the Jay & Patty Baker Field in Collier County on the grounds of the Boys & Girls Club Arlene & Jerry F. Nichols Campus. This state-of-the-art, multipurpose facility will serve as an outdoor classroom for many of the life lessons incorporated in Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation programming and engage disadvantaged youth in Collier County, providing an opportunity to have a long-term positive impact on their lives. The Jay & Patty Baker Field is designed to be an attractive, safe, fun, educational, and stimulating place for youth and families.
The facility will support the Foundation's baseball and softball themed programs, as well as other youth sports activities such as soccer and flag football. The park will have synthetic surface and will include features of New York's Yankee Stadium, Boston's Fenway Park, and Baltimore's Camden Yards. Upon completion of the $1.6 million dollar multipurpose field and park, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, under a long-term agreement with the Boys & Girls Club, will assist in providing the resources necessary to sustain and grow youth participation in Foundation programs and ensure that the facility will be maintained at a high level of quality. This safe haven will enable youth to participate in team sports, the Badges for Baseball program, and clinics and camps taught by Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation staff. In addition to the youth programming, the park will serve as a gathering point for the community and will give families a place to spend quality time together.
